Seema Kohli completed her Diploma in Applied Arts (ITI) from South Delhi Polytechnic, New Delhi in 1983. She completed her undergraduate studies in Philosophy (Hons) at Miranda House, Delhi University in 1981. In the last few years as a full-fledged artist, Seema has seen a tremendous response to her work, leading her to do over 20 solo shows in Venice, Brussels, NY, Dubai, Singapore Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. Seema has participated in the International Biennale (Venice, Shanghai, India) and Art fairs in Hong Kong, Basel, Beijing, Madrid, and India.

Her journey with art has been an emotional one. The day she got her first drawing book, it was as if a dam had been broken. She has pursued her passion even in times of difficulties in her personal life. Seema’s artwork is embellished with 24-carat gold and silver leaf. Her themes range from spiritual, mythology, nature, and feminine sexuality among many others. She also has been creating sculptures, and installations, and giving performances. Her most famous work is around the ‘Tree of Life’ which is a focus in many of her paintings.

Seema Kohli's artwork is a rich confluence of thematic depth and stylistic elegance, setting her apart in the world of contemporary artwork. Her work predominantly explores themes of mythology, spirituality, and femininity, woven intricately with philosophical undertones. Kohli's use of vibrant colors and varied textures adds a dreamlike quality to her paintings, inviting viewers into a realm of mystical narratives and ethereal beauty.

Kohli has been honored with numerous awards for her contributions to art, both nationally and internationally. These accolades include prestigious recognitions such as the Florence Biennale 2009, 1 Premio ‘Video’, the YFLO Women Achiever’s Award, and the LKA Lifetime Achievement Award for Women in 2008. Her work has not only been exhibited widely in India but also on international platforms, showcasing the global appeal of Seema Kohli's art.
