A graduate from JJ School of Art, Raj More is a Mumbai based artist and his works depict his fascination with the sights and sounds of this urban city. The urban city talks to him in the form of bulls, vehicles, violence, religion and Bollywood
“I have not fixated on the knife for colour application, I apply colour with anything... as seen in texture and form of the painting. When you look at my work you can easily identify it with me. I work upon ideas...my painting is titled ‘Token’(I’ve used the rose and the bull). I was inspired by an English movie where a tap dancer had a rose in her mouth. I’ve used that as a token- the bull represents money and the rose represents a woman; how a rich and powerful man aims to achieve these two. I’ve used very powerful colours to express my story- black, red and yellow".
