Bhaskar Bordoloi (born 14th of June, 1996) is a young artist from Bongaigaon district of Assam, and presently based in Shantiniketan [W.B]. Currently pursuing his master degree in painting from Kala Bhavana, Shantiniketan and completed his BFA (painting) from Amity University, Noida (2020). His paintings portray an elusive world of mysticism and dystopia. His compositions are packed with elements of grotesque visuals and dark humor; often sexually explicit; where his subjects’ religious outrage and socio-political predicaments are revealed through symbolic representation. He has participated at least in two exhibitions: In The Time of Distress – Canvas Art Group, Kerala 2021 (online group show) , Exciting Assam – Foundation of Art and Culture, Bhopal 2021 (online group show), 100 Young Artists – Raza Foundation, Delhi 2022.
Bhaskar’s works are a dive into the mysticism and mysteries expressed that surround us. He borrows from movies, books, stage plays, music and personal experiences to build an image that is brutally vivid yet a metaphorical depiction of our society and the prevalent socio-political and religious landscape of our nation.
