Lakshay Bhargava

About the Artist

Lakshya Bhargava is an artist from Ghaziabad, who completed his bachelor's in visual arts at Bengaluru School of Visual Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in 2022. His work delves into themes of identity, queer friendships, memories, fantasies, self-exploration, and the lives of marginalized subcultures exploring their existence and queer joy as an act of resilience. Primarily working with painting, Lakshya extends the possibilities of the medium, drawing inspiration from his personal experiences, childhood memories, and conversations with his queer friends and chosen family. His practice is fluid, sometimes allowing the medium itself to guide the process. Lakshya was recently awarded the Elizabeth Greenshield grant (2024) and the National Award by Tata Trusts Student's Biennale Awards 2022-2023. He is set to pursue his master's in visual arts at the Slade School of Fine Arts, UCL, in London this year.
