Sachin Shankar Pandey
About the Artist
Sachin Shankar is a master miniaturist whose work delves into the architectural essence of Hyderabad, a city where Indo-Islamic styles converge to form a rich visual tapestry. His artistic practice is driven by a deep philological curiosity about this architectural amalgamation, which he reinterprets through a contemporary lens. By meticulously crafting intricate details and interweaving parallel lines, he constructs a world where history and imagination coexist in seamless dialogue. His work is a coming together of many moments, influences, and internal dialogues—an attempt to express what words often fail to convey. Each piece becomes an exploration of memory, an interpretation of what could have been, and a revisionist historical perspective of a homogenized cultural identity. Through his miniatures, Sachin engages in a deeply personal conversation with time and space, where every brushstroke peels away another layer of self discovery. His process is intuitive, yet structured, allowing his compositions to surprise even him with their recurring themes and architectural intricacies. At its core, Sachin Shankar’s art transcends mere representation; it becomes a meditative journey through the intersection of memory, history, and artistic instinct. His vision invites the viewer into a world where lost architectures are reimagined, and the past converses with the present in a language of intricate linework and luminous detail.
Born with an innate fascination for historical structures, Sachin’s artistic journey has been shaped by both rigorous academic training and an instinctual pull toward revisiting the past. He earned his Master of Fine Arts (History of Art) from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Bolpur (Shantiniketan) in 2022, following a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad in 2017.
